We’re all about getting you the marine products you need, even if an item is temporarily out of stock. If something’s backordered, we’ve got you covered, and we’ll make sure you’re kept in the loop along the way.
What is a Backorder?
A backorder happens when an item you’ve ordered is out of stock. Instead of canceling your order, we’ll reserve it for you and ship it as soon as it’s available again.
How Backorders Work

Placing a Backorder: When you place a backorder, we’ll hold the item for you and ship it when it's back in stock. You won’t be charged until it ships, unless the item requires upfront payment due to its value. The item value threshold depends on the specific product.

Lead Times: The lead time you see on the product page is based on historical data from our purchase orders and SKUs. It’s an estimate for how long it will take for an item to ship. We’re constantly working with our suppliers to stock and fulfill quickly, but please note that lead times are subject to change and improvement.

Customer Service Follow-Up: If there’s a significant delay or if the item becomes unavailable for order, our customer service team will reach out to update you and discuss options.
Shipping

Once the backordered item is back in stock, we’ll ship it to you with the method you chose at checkout. You’ll get a notification and tracking info once it ships. If you’re picking up in-store, we’ll let you know via email or phone call when your item is ready for pickup.

Partial Shipments: If your order has a mix of in-stock and backordered items, we may ship the in-stock items at your request. No extra shipping charges will apply for backordered items.
Returns for Backordered Items

Cancellation and Refunds
If you need to cancel a backorder, reach out to us at info@freeportmarine.com. We recommend reaching out within the first 5 days of placing your order to confirm whether it can still be canceled. Depending on the supplier, we may not be able to process the cancellation once the order is placed. Refunds will be issued to the original payment method and typically take 7 to 10 days to process.
